Bowling club donates to Toys for Joy campaign

The last stop for the initiative for the year was at the Village Bowling Club in Margate.

After a successful fundraiser lunch at the Greyville Racecourse, ExPro (ex professional) an association of former professional sporting legends, continued with their toys for joy Christmas campaign in their quest to collect 4000 toys for less fortunate children in the rainbow nation.

The last stop for the initiative was at the Village Bowling Club at the Margate Retirement Village recently. Currently in its second year collaborating with ExPro, the bowling club managed to collect 100 toys in less than three weeks.

“We are grateful for the support we receive from the residents of the village some of whom some are not even club members. So many residents have children who are adults now, or barely have the opportunity to see their grandchildren to buy them toys. So this initiative gives them pleasure and allows them to make a difference in the life of a young child,” said Village Bowling Club President, Annette Payne.

Also present was the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast which partners with ExPro, and assists with the distribution of the toys to the most needy homes and hospitals.

“This has always been an excellent initiative, and I can recall how we also used to partner with East Coast Radio for a similar initiative. We are now proud to be associated with ExPro, and look forward to what the future holds,” said Gavin Jepson, the District Governor Elect for Rotary.

All toys will be distributed just before Christmas.
