Get vaccinated urges tourism body

Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN) conducted a vaccination drive across the province and made a stopover on the South Coast last week.

The ‘Jab for Tourism’ drive comes amidst the province’s new battle with the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic post the discovery of the Omicron variant, which has led to uncertainty within the sector and holidaymakers alike.

“The aim of the drive is to further increase awareness around vaccinations and encourage trade, locals and holidaymakers to get vaccinated,” explained Pinky Hadebe, PR and senior communications manager.

“There was decline in our tourism sector, and with KZN still the number one domestic tourist attraction, we encourage all holidaymakers, business owners and locals to get vaccinated and remain cautious on the tourism front,” she added.

Having previously made stops in iLembe, St. Lucia and Richards Bay, the drive saw TKZN target inland cities making a stop in Newcastle yesterday (29th), followed by Ladysmith, before concluding today (30th) in Pietermaritzburg.
