The executive committee and members of the Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Temple has decided to observe Thai Poosam Kavady under strict Covid-19 protocols.
Unfortunately there will be no (Sunday) public kavady this year for the safety of all.
Flag hoisting will take place this Sunday (9th) with the hawan starting at 14:00.
Thai Poosam Kavady will take place on Tuesday, January 18 with hawan starting at 12:00.
During the week, the prayer will start at 18:30, at 15:00 on Saturday, January 15 and at 17:00 on Sunday, January 16.
Kavady bookings will take place from this Sunday (9th).
The temple’s chariot will visit the surrounding areas of Port Shepstone on Sunday, January 16 from 08:30.
The committee apologises to people in those areas where it did not complete its kavady collection. However, they are most welcome to make their contributions at the temple.
The community is also advised that this is a public event and they will be attending at their own risk. However, the necessary Covid-19 protocols will be observed.
May Lord Muruga bless you and your families.
