Man shot in leg and friend nearly raped by attacker in Sea Park

Visitors and locals are warned to avoid unmanned beaches after this nasty incident.

Southport detectives are investigating a case of attempted murder, robbery and attempted rape which occurred in Sea Park this week.

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge confirmed that no arrest has been made as yet.

According to a WhatsApp message, that has been doing the rounds, it was reported that a young man and woman were allegedly attacked by a man armed with a firearm in Sea Park while they were walking along a pathway, towards the railway line.

They were robbed of their cellphones.

The youngster was shot in the leg while his friend was pulled into the bushes by the suspect, where he allegedly tried to rape her.

Luckily she managed to escape and the attacker fled towards Tweni.
