WET WEATHER UPDATE: R102 collapses near GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh

Heavy rain and flooding has resulted in several roads being washed away or blocked.

Due to continuous heavy rains and flooding, several roads in the mid-South Coast area are inaccessible.

The R102 near GJ Crookes Hospital, Scottburgh is severely damaged and currently closed.

A huge section of the road has collapsed and the road condition is deteriorating due to the severity of the weather.

Other reports indicate that the following roads have also been affected as of 06:30 this morning (April 12):

• Road to Scottburgh blocked by fallen trees at Abrams Crest and Rocky Bay.

• No access to Durban via N2 or R102 from Pennington.

• N2 between Umkomaas and Amanzimtoti is closed at Ilfracombe.

• The Renishaw bridge also inaccessible due to flooding.
