Library material stolen, staff member traumatised

Three men entered the library and threatened a staff member.

Staff at the Port Shepstone Library were left traumatised recently when armed men gained entry and got away with valuable library material.

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said a business robbery case is being investigated by Port Shepstone detectives.

“The complainant (38) alleges that she was at her workplace in the Port Shepstone Central Business Centre when three unknown men entered. One suspect threatened her with a knife, while the other accomplices removed 10 computer towers and loaded them into the bags and fled,” said Mpinge.

Spokesman for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Simon April confirmed the incident and added that the matter is being investigated by the police.

The Herald requested information regarding video footage and security at the library but no information was provided at the time of publishing.

No arrests have been made yet. The library has re-opened since the incident.
