Keep Umuziwabantu Municipality clean.
This is the motto the leadership of the municipality is trying to live by.
Sboniso Zungu, the mayor of Umuziwabantu, led a delegation during a clean-up campaign at Ghost Town under Ward 3 in Harding.
Zungu was accompanied by the speaker of council, Petros Shebi, councillors and staff of Umuziwabantu, Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS), the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, and members of the public.
According to Zungu, the clean-up campaign was aimed at restoring the town’s beauty and promoting a cleaner and healthier environment.
He said they targeted litter, debris and more that pollute the environment.
He said there was a need to highlight the importance of collective responsibility in waste management, recycling and cleanliness in Umuziwabantu Municipality.
During the clean-up, different people undertook various activities such as raking the streets, picking up litter, and embarking on educational talks on keeping the environment clean.
“Umuziwabantu Municipality is committed to creating a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment for residents. The success of this initiative relied on the continued support and participation of the community,” said the mayor.
