Police recover drugs in ongoing Ugu raid

Operation Shanela is currently happening at various parts of the Ugu district until 7:30pm.

Two people have been arrested for rape and two firearms have been recovered by police during the ongoing Operation Shanela led by retiring Saps Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele.
Operation Shanela, which is focusing on suspect raids, search and seizures, roadblocks, and liqour compliance is currently happening in various areas in the Ugu district until 7:30pm.
Acting Saps Provincial Commissioner, Major General, Phumelele Makoba, was also leading the operation with Nxamagele.
Police said so far a shop selling goods illegally has been closed and drugs have been also recovered.
They added that a vehicle was also taken off the road as it was found to be unroadworthy.
