21 year-old feared drowned off Umkomaas, teen rescued by Good Samaritan
Police search and rescue have been tasked to continue in ongoing search efforts.

In yet another drowning on the South Coast this holiday season, a 21-year-old man from Dlangezwa, near Richards Bay in KZN, is missing and presumed dead.
His 16 year-old brother was rescued by an unidentified Good Samaritan and brought safely and uninjured to the beach.
This happened at Umkomaas beach yesterday (Friday, January 2) at around 12:30.
NSRI Rocky Bay deputy station commander, Linda Putter, said that NSRI Rocky Bay, police search and rescue, IPSS Medical Rescue, lifeguards, Metro police search and rescue and the SA Police Services were activated and responded to reports from Gladiator Security of the incident. The KZN surf rescue network was also alerted.
On arrival they found that the 16-year-old had been rescued but that his older brother remained missing in the surf zone.
Despite an extensive sea and shoreline search there remains no signs of the missing man.
Police search and rescue have been tasked to continue in ongoing search efforts.
It appears that the brothers were caught in strong rip currents while they were swimming.
Thoughts and care are with the family of the missing man in this difficult time.
* Note, this incident is separate to the mass drowning off Pennington on Thursday, January 1.
* It is also different to the incident off Hibberdene, also on Thursday, January 1.
