Tata Harrier is a stand out SUV
It represents strength, elegance, modern SUV performance and top safety features.
Tata is making a comeback in South Africa after relaunching its passenger vehicles including the Harrier, Tiago, Punch and Curvv last year. The company came back with a bang offering competitive pricing, modern tech and robust safety features.
I clearly remember Tata when it introduced the Indica around 2004, an affordable hatchback, which I still see around. However, my latest test vehicle for a week was the Tata Harrier, and wow it was amazing.
Tata has stepped up its game and is defiantly competing with other brands.
Now the Harrier stands out and as a true SUV, it combines strength and elegance with modern tech. Driving around in this vehicle, once again, drew a lot of attention and many were amazed.
I was certainly impressed, it offers high-end safety features, boasting a 5-star global NCAP safety rating. It is powered by a 2l turbo diesel engine producing 125kW and 350Nm of torque, enough power to chase the cops for a story.
A trip to Durban and back went well and I enjoyed every moment. My four passengers were comfortable and safe, and enjoyed the panoramic sun roof and mood lighting. The voice-assisted panoramic sunroof transforms your drive with natural light and fresh air at your command. Paired with multi-mood ambient lighting, it lets you set the tone for every journey.
It also boasts an amazing infotainment system. The standout feature for me was the JBL sound system, featuring 10 speakers including tweeters and a subwoofer tuned for the cabin, providing deep bass and clear audio.
I was hoping for a family function to start the party and have a ‘boot jol’, it never happened, nevertheless the party went on.
Another brilliant feature is the Bi-LED projector headlamps, which deliver crystal-clear visibility and sharp illumination in low-light conditions.
With a powerful engine, this SUV delivers impressive performance and I found the automatic transmission a breeze.
I am looking forward to more Tata test drives.
