Pinky Nsebe (29) from Bhuqu location in Nyandezulu was recently stabbed to death, allegedly by the father of her child, a taxi driver.
Nsebe’s body was found on the side of the road by a local police officer who was passing by the next morning.
Her father Simphiwe Mata Cikwayo said before the incident he had attended a funeral with his sister and Pinky had gone to a wedding.
“I came back home and waited for her to return till late, then I fell asleep. A few minutes later I heard a loud scream shouting Pinky’s name. When I went outside, it was the police officer. She asked me to come with her and that’s when I saw my daughter lying dead on the roadside.”
Shedding tears, Cikwayo said before he got out of the car, he knew his daughter was dead. “The position in which she was lying was not normal.”
Cikwayo said he was aware that his daughter’s relationship was toxic and had told her many times to leave the father of her baby because one day he would kill her.
“Not so long ago she was visiting him at his home in Umzinto and she came back with an open wound on her head. What pains me the most is that I raised my daughter all alone with difficulty. Now that she was working and was able to take care of me, someone just decides to take her life in such a manner.”
The emotional father said he is now left to care for two grandchildren.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Sibu Ncane confirmed that the body of a 29 year old woman was found with multiple stab wounds near Bhuqu Sports Grounds.
“A 26 year old man has been arrested and a case of murder has been opened for investigation by Saps Paddock,” he said.
