KZN Community Policing Forum recently introduced a new uniform that was issued to all CPF Exco members at all police stations in the Ugu District.
Members in this uniform will be on duty this festive season, to be the eyes and ears for the police.
Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis advises the public to take note of these precautionary measures to avoid becoming victims of crime over the festive period:
Firstly, avoid using expensive jewellery and valuables when out in public or in busy areas. People should avoid carrying large amounts of cash too.
Never entertain strangers who try to strike up conversations and never let your guard down either.
Do not drive with valuables open displayed on car seats. Keep car windows closed at all times and always maintain a lookout. Plan travel routes carefully and its advisable to travel during the day. Drivers are asked to travel directly to a police station if they are followed by unknown vehicles or to public places like a petrol station.
Mid-South Coast residents are encouraged to keep driveway gates closed at all times. Don’t leave items on the premises in view of passersby and never open doors for unauthorised people.
People are once again reminded to report crimes and suspicious activities to Saps on 086 0010111 or make use of the MySAPS app.
