Learners stabbed in school

A 22-year-old suspect has been arrested.

Umzinto Saps is investigating charges of attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after two learners were stabbed at a high school in the Umzinto area last Thursday.

According to a 17-year-old complainant’s report to the police, he noticed a 22-year-old man stabbing his friend and tried to rescue him.

“The suspect then chased the complainant and stabbed him in the back before fleeing the scene,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, KZN Saps Media Centre spokesperson.

The suspect was arrested, and both learners were taken to hospital for medical attention.
