Fifteen year sentence for armed robber

The crime was committed in Dumisa in 2021.

Xolisani Niki Mkhize (31) was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for aggravated robbery in the Scottburgh Regional Court last week.

According to police, on May 21, 2021, Mkhize robbed a tavern in Dumisa location at gunpoint. He took cash, alcohol and cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

A case was opened and an investigation was led by Detective Sergeant Mandisii Mkhize of Sawoti Detective Service.

Mkhize was arrested on May 24, three days after the crime.

Bail was denied and he remained in custody throughout his trial.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
