Illegal firearms confiscated in Umzinto
The public is urged to continue reporting criminal activities.
Umzinto Saps recovered two illegal firearms in Umzinto two weeks ago.
Police were patrolling near Bhai Plaza Shopping Centre when an officer noticed a man carrying something concealed in the waistband of his pants.
On searching the 37-year-old man, an unlicensed pistol was found, as well as ammunition. The man was arrested.
Police also received information of a man in possession of a firearm near a hardware store close to the shopping centre.
A 21-year-old man was then identified and searched. A homemade firearm was confiscated, and he will appear in court for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Police urge the communities of Umzinto to continue providing information on criminal activities – especially illegal firearms.
