Chatsworth drug dealer nailed by Hawks

A 9mm pistol, live ammunition and a silver Ford Everest were also seized for further investigation.

Suspected drug dealer Wayne Pillay (39) was arrested by the Port Shepstone Hawks in Chatsworth recently.

Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation received information about a person who was transporting drugs in his vehicle to West Cliff Road in Chatsworth for distribution.

A joint operation was conducted by Hawks members, together with KZN Counter Narcotics and Durban Metropolitan Drug Team members.

Hawks spokesman Warrant Officer Sibu Ncane said the vehicle was spotted and tactically stopped in the Chatsworth area, where it was then searched.

During the search, various commodities of drugs were found in a black plastic packet in the vehicle with an estimated street value of R40 000.

A 9mm pistol, live ammunition and a silver Ford Everest were also seized for further investigation.

The seized firearm will be subjected to ballistic tests to ascertain if it was not used in the commission of any crime in the country.

He appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s court.

The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona, welcomed the arrest and commended the members for their good work.
