Angler reels in body from river

The fisherman assumed he had hooked a piece of driftwood.

A fisherman hooked and reeled in a man’s body while fishing at Mpenjati, near Port Edward about a week ago.

It is believed that the fisherman assumed he had hooked a piece of driftwood, but it turned out to be a body.

The Saps Corporate communication department said officers from Margate Saps responded to the scene at Mpenjati, where they found the body of an unknown man on the south side of the river.

“The body had stab wounds to the torso and was retrieved from the water by Saps Search and Rescue Unit. A case of murder has been opened for investigation, and no arrests have been made. “
