Woman’s killer jailed for 20 years

The woman's body was recovered in a shallow grave near Murchison.

Mxolisi Blessing Mkhize (36) will spend the next 20 years in prison for murdering a woman.

The woman from Nkanyezini area in Murchison had left home to visit her boyfriend on October 26, 2023. When she did not return, family became worried and reported the incident to police.

During police investigations, her body was later recovered in a shallow grave at Nkanyezini. Community forum members alerted police to a possible suspect.

Mkhize was charged for her murder and was convicted and sentenced in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on August 2.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The investigating officer in the case was Detective Sergeant Mwandile Mzindle of Port Shepstone Detective Service.
