Double life sentence for teen’s murder and rape

Ugu District Detective Commander, Brigadier Bongani Sibiya is elated with the sentence meted out by the courts.

Wandile Nxumalo of Mvutshini location in Margate was handed two life sentences for the rape and murder of a girl (16).

He was sentenced in the Port Shepstone Regional Magistrate’s Court last week.

Nxumalo raped and strangled the teen after an argument on June 12, 2021, and left her body in a sugarcane field.

He was handed over to Margate police and was subsequently arrested and charged.

The investigating officer in the case was Detective Sergeant Sbonelo Mlambo of Margate Detective Service.

Ugu District Detective Commander Brigadier Bongani Sibiya is elated with the sentence meted out by the courts and Mlambo’s tenacity until the case was finalised.
