Andile Msimango was recently sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old girl in Paddock in February.
Police said Msimango pretended to be accompanying the girl to the shop before he raped and strangled her until he thought she was dead.
“A while later, she woke up and stumbled for help at the nearest home. Msimango was arrested immediately by police. He pleaded guilty after a brief but thorough investigation.”
He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. His details will be entered in the National Register for Sexual Offenders.
Investigating officer in the case was Detective Sergeant Yoleka Xabendlini of Margate Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
