Traffic officer killed at roadblock

A traffic official died after being run over at a roadblock on the N2 near Caribbean Estates, Port Edward, on Tuesday last week.

Police confirmed that a case of culpable homicide has been opened for investigation at Port Edward Saps after a 55-year-old law enforcement officer at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality was knocked down.

Officer Nobubele Mntonitshi was stopping a vehicle at the roadblock when the accident occurred. While the injured officer was being transported to hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Police added that no arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
