Drug dealer arrested in Park Rynie

This long-running operation was investigated for many years.

A 46-year-old suspect was arrested by Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation for dealing in drugs in Park Rynie last Friday.

This comes after an intensive, multi-year investigation that began in 2018 when the Hawks first received information about a group of individuals dealing in drugs in the Scottburgh and Umzinto areas.

Undercover operations were conducted by the police, during which a police agent successfully purchased illegal drugs from the suspects on multiple occasions in 2019 and 2022.

In the last operation, the agent identified one of the suspects as the same person who sold drugs to him in 2019.

Police then seized drugs worth about R6 200 from the suspect. These drugs were confirmed to contain narcotics in the lab report, and a warrant of arrest was subsequently issued by the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs.

The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona, praised the dedication and perseverance of the Hawks members.
