Gamalakhe man jailed for woman’s assault
He used a large rock to assault her on her head and face.
Samuel Gift Majola (32), who took a large rock and assaulted a woman who was walking home, was sentenced in the Port Shepstone Regional Court recently.
Majola from Gamalakhe was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for attempted murder and 10 years for aggravated robbery.
On September 4, 2022, Majola confronted the woman (36) who was on her way home at Qinabout.
He used a large rock to assault her on her head and face.
He then robbed her of two cellphones and fled.
The woman who was severely injured was transferred to a Durban Hospital, where she lay unconscious for a period of time before making a slight recovery.
Majola was arrested and was denied bail.
The investigating officer was detective Sergeant Mlungisi Jabe of Gamalakhe Detective Service.
