Cop shoots her child and turns gun on herself in Umkomaas

The sergeant was resuscitated and taken to hospital.

An off-duty police sergeant is alleged to have shot and killed her daughter (10) before turning the gun on herself in Umkomaas yesterday (May 1).

It is believed that police received a call from the policewoman’s relative who said that she had sent him a message of concern before the incident.

Police immediately went to the sergeant’s residence.

On arrival, they had to force entry and discovered the officer and her daughter in a pool of blood. Her firearm was found next to her as well.

The daughter was declared dead at the scene.

The sergeant was resuscitated by paramedics, and transported to hospital for medical attention.
