Woman murdered in Umkomaas, ex-boyfriend arrested
According to Umkomaas police, her decomposing body was found deep in the bushes near a footpath leading into Venus Road, Sunpark.

The Umkomaas community is calling for justice after the murder of 32-year-old Coleen Thaver.
Thaver went missing in the area on March 21, and was found dead on April 4.
According to Umkomaas police, her decomposing body was found deep in the bushes near a footpath leading into Venus Road, Sunpark.
The person who discovered her body reported it to police, and investigations began.
“Investigations led detectives to Thaver’s ex-boyfriend, who was taken in for questioning, which then led to his arrest,” said Umkomaas Saps communications officer, Captain Ranjith Rampersad.
Stanley Tait (37) appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder on April 7.
Dawn Gounden from Renegades Search and Rescue assisted the family in the search of Thaver.
Speaking on behalf of the family, she said that they are traumatised by Thaver’s death.
“The diligent efforts of the Umkomaas Saps detective were instrumental in seeking justice for the family and providing them with closure,” she said.
“The detectives worked tirelessly, collaborating with community members who came forward with crucial information regarding Thaver’s last known whereabouts.”
Thaver is survived by her son and sister.
Tait will appear for a formal bail application in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court soon.
