Police from Hibberdene Crime Prevention were on patrol duty last Thursday when they received information of a man (24) with an unlicensed firearm.
Police, including Crime Intelligence, proceeded to a store at Mahlangwini area where they identified the man fitting the description.
Saps Ugu District Communication said the man was arrested after he was searched and a 9mm pistol with one magazine was found on him, as well as live ammunition.
He was arrested and charged, and will appear in court shortly.
