Attempted murder suspect arrested

The 20-year-old victim was able to identify the shooter.

Last month, a woman and her 20-year-old son were asleep at their home in Hibberdene when she awoke to her son crying out in pain.

She then found that he had been shot in the leg, and the suspect had fled.

The young man was able to identify the shooter and Hibberdene Detective Service started an investigation.

Last week, the Hibberdene Task Team and Provincial Crime Intelligence conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Kwa Hlongwa area. A suspect (42) was arrested after being found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol of which the serial number had been filed off.

He will appear in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm.
