Wanted murder suspect dies in shootout in Umzinto
The suspect was wanted for drug-related crimes and murder cases.
A wanted suspect was fatally shot in Umzinto after a shootout between him and Metro police officers last Thursday.
According to KZN Saps’ Colonel Robert Netshiunda, Metro police officers executed a warrant of arrest operation against the 29-year-old who was wanted for drug-related crimes.
They then proceeded to a residence on Malibu Drive in Kadville Heights, Umzinto.
“The suspect reportedly locked himself inside a room and fired shots towards the police from behind the locked door,” said Netshiunda.
The officers fired back and the suspect was shot dead.
Police have also placed on record that the suspect was wanted for numerous murder cases.
Umzinto Saps has opened an inquest docket for investigation.
