Umkomaas Saps warns motorists to stop drinking and driving
The operation was carried out by Umkomaas Saps and Durban Metro Police.

A drunken driving blitz operation was carried out in Umkomaas by Durban Metro Police and Umkomaas Saps last Friday.
According to Umkomaas Saps spokesperson, Captain Ranjith Rampersad, 11 drivers were arrested in their jurisdiction for drunk driving.
“Drunk drivers ignored the call made by authorities in order to make roads safer for road users,” said Rampersad.
“Police appeal to citizens to exercise caution when they use the roads because failure to do so will result in fatalities and serious injuries.”
He also emphasised Umkomaas is a ‘no go’ area for drunk drivers.
Acting station commander Lt Colonel John Mthobise Ngema thanked Metro Police and Umkomaas Saps members for the successful joint operation.
More operations of this nature are being planned to promote road safety.
