Five stabbed to death in Malangeni, Umzinto

Police are investigating.

KZN police are investigating five murders in the Phase 2 Malangeni area, Umzinto which occurred last Saturday evening.

Reports indicate that a man first stabbed and killed his 32-year-old girlfriend after they had a dispute.

Her body was later found by police inside a house. She had sustained multiple stab wounds.

After allegedly murdering his partner, the man is believed to have stabbed and killed two men, aged 53 and 58, along the road.

Police then received more information indicating that another two victims, aged 37 and 51, were also stabbed and succumbed to their injuries on arrival at a local clinic.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that they were also stabbed by the same suspect,” said Saps KZN Media Centre spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda.

“The motive for the stabbing spree is under investigation.”

Sources indicate that the murder suspect has since taken his own life.
