Park Rynie RTI clamps down on reckless drivers and speedsters

Several arrests were made in Park Rynie on the public holiday.

The Park Rynie Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) team is still hot on the heels of reckless drivers and speedsters in the mid-South Coast area.

With December 16 being a public holiday, many people travelled to the area, resulting in a high volume of traffic.

“A number of motorists were observed disregarding road safety regulations, driving recklessly, and showing little regard for their own safety and that of other road users,” said Park Rynie RTI station commander Philile Shangase.

As a result (in Park Rynie), four motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and one additional motorist was apprehended for exceeding the legal speed limit.

This operation was led by acting principal provincial inspector Ryan Varden.

This morning (December 17), a further two motorists were arrested for drunk driving, including a taxi driver. This was led by PPI Harilall.
