Cop shot after high speed chase on N2 in Hibberdene
Police were doing routine patrol duties when they received information about a hijacked vehicle travelling on the N2.

A police constable was shot and injured by an armed man who had allegedly hijacked a minibus taxi at Hibberdene last Friday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said police were conducting routine patrol duties when they received information about a hijacked vehicle travelling on the N2.
“Officers spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver defied police instructions and sped off.”
He said a chase ensued, during which the driver lost control of the vehicle, jumped out and opened fire on the police while fleeing the scene.
Police returned fire and the man disappeared into the nearby bushes.
The 34-year-old police officer sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for medical attention. Cases of attempted murder have been opened for investigation.
On the same day, a case of hijacking was opened at Amanzimtoti police station after a 32-year-old man was reportedly hijacked of his minibus taxi and robbed of his belongings by unknown men.
