Scottburgh police make drug and rape arrests

32 pieces of rock cocaine and 72 capsules of heroin were confiscated.

A 32-year-old man was arrested after being found in possession of drugs in Amandawe.

The arrest came after police found him looking for customers on Dududu Road recently.

The Saps Operational Command Centre Task Team held observation and pursued the suspect who tried to outrun them.

He was charged at Scottburgh Saps for dealing in drugs.

About 32 pieces of rock cocaine, one small bag of cocaine and 72 capsules of heroin were found in his possession.

He is to appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.

* Saps members also recently traced and arrested a 30-year-old man sought for two separate cases of rape which occurred in Amandawe recently. It is alleged that he preyed on women who were socialising in the evening. He forcefully entered the home of one of the victims, where he raped her.

He was charged with two counts of rape and appeared in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on January 19. The matter was postponed for further investigation.
