Brothers jailed for Bhomela woman’s murder

The body was placed in a drum and left in an abandoned building.

Two men who stood accused of the murder of a woman (38) from Bhomela, Paddock on November 27, 2022 were convicted and sentenced in the Ezinqoleni Regional Court on January 14.

Bongukhile David Ndlovu (40) and his brother Derrick Sanele Ndlovu (38) were each sentenced to 12 years’ direct imprisonment and six years’ imprisonment respectively.

Bongukhile took the victim from her home and later that evening strangled her after a heated argument. He then put her body in a drum and left it in an abandoned building. Eyewitnesses reported the strange incident, and on searching found the body in the drum and contacted the police.

Derrick was seen disposing of the victim’s clothing and was convicted for his role in concealing her murder.

Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Anton Kapp is pleased with the conviction of the two brothers for their roles in the murder of yet another victim of gender-based violence. He stated that arresting and convicting perpetrators of these crimes will continue to be at the forefront of policing initiatives.

Kapp also thanked the investigating officer Sergeant Sthembiso Cele of Paddock Detective Service for a thorough investigation that resulted in the desired outcome.
