12-year sentence for Anerley car thief

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Myalezo Siyabonga Dlungwane (27) was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of motor vehicle theft.

The case was opened at Saps Southport on May 16, 2023, after Dlungwane allegedly pointed a firearm at the complainant near Anerley before fleeing with a Toyota Tazz and other valuables.

He was arrested on August 3, 2023, and remained in custody after bail was denied.

Earlier this month, he was sentenced in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court, and also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The case was investigated by Sergeant Thandukwazi Mkhungo of the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit in Port Shepstone.
