Accused in teen’s murder back in Umzumbe court soon

Sithole's case was postponed to June 11 and he remains in custody.

Lungisani Sithole, who has been charged with murder, appeared again in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court recently, however, the case was postponed.

He remains in custody until his next appearance on June 11.

According to the magistrate, the investigation has been completed, but the docket has to be sent to the regional court for perusal.

Furthermore, Sithole’s Legal Aid lawyer was not present on the day he appeared.

Sithole was arrested in connection with the murder of Siphesihle Khomo (19) of Nyangwini area in Mtwalume.

Khomo’s decomposed body was found near the Jojo River at Nyangwini three weeks after he was reported missing on January 10.

The teenager’s grandfather, Phendulani Khomo, said all he wants to know is where Sphesihle was killed and if he was killed using a weapon, so he can perform a cleansing and ritual for him.

“As an African this is important to us. I have been pleading for months that someone from his family speaks to him, so that he can tell me where exactly he took my grandson’s life. I am not getting any information from them and this is worrying me.”

Khomo said he is relieved that Sithole is still in custody.

Sithole had abandoned his bail application on March 31 and said he preferred to remain in custody until his trial.
