Hibberdene man arrested with unlicensed firearm and ammunition

The man appeared in the Turton Magistrate’s Court and was charged accordingly.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at Emgangeni location in Hibberdene on August 9 for allegedly having an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Port Shepstone Public Order Police members acted on information about a man matching a description they had received.

They stopped and searched the man, finding a 9mm Norinco pistol with its serial number filed off, along with eight live rounds of ammunition.

The man was arrested and charged accordingly.

He appeared in the Turton Magistrate’s Court on August 11.

The firearm will undergo ballistic testing to establish whether it may have been used in the commission of other crimes.
