Investigation launched following hero RTI officer’s tragic death

The KZN Department of Transport has confirmed the tragic death of Park Rynie RTI officer, Tim Simpson.
Reports indicate that he burned to death inside his state-owned vehicle while on duty along the N2 freeway in Park Rynie last night (September 22).
The car was entirely engulfed in flames around 20:00 last night.
A specialised team has since been working flat out and combing through the forensic and mechanical evidence to uncover what triggered the ravaging fire.
MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma said a team was dispatched to meet with the family late last night as a sign of respect to the departed colleague who was respected for his discipline and dedication.
“Critically, as we move forward, we will work with the family to reflect on the life of our departed law enforcement officer who served this province and the country with distinction,” said Duma.
