RNM and SAPS enforce rules in Port Shepstone to stop illegal taxi operations

Law enforcement and Port Shepstone have introduced stricter controls in the Port Shepstone CBD.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Law Enforcement and Port Shepstone Saps are enforcing rules and regulations with regards to taxi ranks in the Port Shepstone CBD.

This is to stop illegal operations in the CBD, as some taxis have been using Dennis Street to load and offload passengers.

Law enforcement is trying to get all the taxis back to the temporary taxi rank as it’s believed that these new loading spots are the ones that make it easy for the drivers to be attacked or to attack others.

This is after a taxi feud that happened between Bambanani and Gamalakhe taxi associations which flared up last week.

Bazley into Dennis Shepstone was closed for a while but has now been opened, as well as Nelson Mandela Drive.

No issues of violence have been reported.
