12 INJURED: Taxi transporting children collides with truck on N2, near Wilson’s Cutting

The road remains closed until further notice.

Twelve people, including children, were injured when a truck and a taxi collided in a head-on crash on the the N2 near Wilson’s Cutting this morning.

Chantell Botha of KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service said a pedestrian was knocked over by the truck following the collision and became trapped under the truck, in critical condition.

A further 10 children and an adult were treated for moderate injuries by paramedics.

“Paramedics, together with Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue services, worked to stabilize and free the patient using specialised equipment,” said Botha.

The patients were all treated and transported to various hospitals.

The cause of the collision is not known but authorities are investigating.
