More than 100 walk for men’s health in Shelly Beach

The morning proved that South Coasters are always ready to stand together when it matters most.

The South Coast community showed true gees as more than 100 locals ditched their usual morning sleep-in recently to lace up their takkies for a good cause.

Residents, children, and dogs alike gathered for a lively 5km fun walk/run to shine a spotlight on men’s health month, celebrated in June.

While the event was put together and hosted by Shelly Beach Hospital, it turned into a massive community effort. The atmosphere was buzzing with positive energy from the beginning, with young and old coming together to support the men in their lives.

It wasn’t just about getting the steps in; big organisations in healthcare, automotive and financial services pitched up tents to chat with locals, sharing helpful advice on staying healthy, getting checked, and looking after their physical and financial well-being.

The excitement peaked at the finish line when one person walked away with a brand-new braai set, in time for the weekend’s sport.

Mlondi Mkhize, marketing PRO, was blown away by the local support and thanked everyone who made the morning a success.

“We want to say a massive thank you to every single person who woke up early to join us. Men’s health is a topic we don’t talk about enough, and seeing the community come out like this shows we are moving in the right direction. To all the men out there, please remember that your health is your wealth.”
