Gamalakhe man finds live grenade while digging in garden

The area was searched for other explosive devices and none were found. 

A man found a live F1 hand grenade while digging in his yard to lay a pipe in Gamalakhe last Saturday.

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge, said the Saps bomb disposal unit and other role-players attended the scene.

“The grenade was destroyed in a controlled explosion and no one was hurt and no property damaged,” he said.

The area was searched for other explosive devices and none were found. No case was opened.
