TRAFFIC UPDATE: Trucks hijacked, roads closed

It's advised that motorists should take caution when using the N2 between Port Shepstone and Paddock and the R61 towards Port Edward.

Two trucks were hijacked last night amid the protest action in various places on the South Coast.
It’s believed a beer and bread truck from Port Edward was set alight on the N2 and that this is the reason for the road to Port Edward being blocked.
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality reported on Facebook that, so far, the N2 between Port Shepstone and Paddock is still blocked at Murchison.
In Oribi, the past Lake Eland is also closed.
The alternative road, which is the R61 between Port Shepstone and Port Edward, is also blocked between Mpenjati and Thongasi.
However, the Mthamvuna bridge is now open.
When wanting to travel between Port Shepstone and Izingolweni, smaller vehicles can use the back road from Shelly Beach to Paddock.
Strictly no trucks as this back road is too narrow.
Otherwise, road users should avoid the area by delaying traveling.
Leadership at RNM and Cogta are engaging the affected stakeholders – Eskom regarding the N2 (Murchison area) and Department of Transport regarding the R61 (to Port Edward).
