Master woodworking at workshop
SCH Local News | South Coast Association of Woodworkers is a small group of people who love creating items from wood.
The South Coast Association of Woodworkers (SCAW) was formed several years ago to provide opportunities for members to learn from each other and experts in the community.
The group meets on the last Wednesday of every month to master various woodworking skills. Many of the items created are sold at flea markets or donated to charitable causes.
SCAW comprises a small group of people who love creating toys as well as pursuing cabinet making, wood turning, general carpentry and maintenance around the home.
The association invites the public to acquire specific skills in the art of woodwork. All association members, as well as new and aspiring woodworkers, are urged to attend a meeting at Umtentweni Library on Wednesday, April 24 from 14:30.
Novices and woodwork hobbyists who would like to sharpen their trade skills, especially in jig work, will enjoy a demonstration by Jermaine Pretorius, who will use Tork Craft drills and various Kreg jigs to make pocket holes, cabinet hardware, drawer slides, decking and a variety of other handy items.
The mastery of woodwork with the proper tools is an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking self-fulfilment or self-employment to supplement an income, especially during these difficult economic times.
