WATCH: Transformer catches alight in Port Shepstone

Power was restored shortly after the blaze had been dealt with.

The town of Port Shepstone suffered a ‘no power’ glitch this afternoon when a transformer in Bissett Street caught fire.

This occurred at around 14:00.

Ray Nkonyeni Fire Department personnel were on scene and put out the fire.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

According to reports on several WhatsApp groups, electricians had worked on a substation in Voortrekker Street, Port Shepstone this morning.

The repair work on this particular substation affected mostly the area of Newtown in Port Shepstone.
