Awards for exceptional officers
A number of dedicated and committed police officers from Scottburgh Saps were awarded for going the extra mile.
Several Scottburgh Saps members were recognised at the first-ever Ugu District Excellence Awards held at the Highland International Convention Centre in Marburg recently.
This glamorous event was a success, and a number of dedicated and committed police officers were awarded for going the extra mile in the operational and administrative environment.
Scottburgh’s Christopher Mahlawe earned himself the Man of the Year award.
Lieutenant Colonel Vijay Moodley took home the Vispol and Operations Member of the Year award.
Reservist Constable Zoleka Mhlawuli was the Reservist of the Year, and Constable Mthembeni Myeza was the runner-up.
Constable Brandon Govender, Constable Lindokuhle Cele and Constable Romario Pillay were all runners-up for the Vispol and Operations Team of the Year. And Sergeant Joel Singo was first runner up for Vispol and Operations member of the year.
These members went above and beyond for their local communities, rendered crucial services to the public and ensured that the victims of crime received justice.
At the event, the keynote address was given by Ugu District Commissioner Major General Sethenya Nxamagele after messages of support were delivered by the District CPF chairperson and Ray Nkonyeni Mayor Zodwa Mzindle.
After the formalities, everyone enjoyed the great meals and entertainment.
Scottburgh Saps station commander Colonel Ralph Ruiters acknowledged his member’s achievements last week.
He stated that he was proud of them and is grateful for what they have done for the station and the community.
