SERVICE DELIVERY CRISIS: Umdoni protest action expected this morning (Aug 5)

The protest will be held in Scottburgh and not Umzinto as previously indicated.

The Umdoni community will be having a planned protest today (August 5) in Scottburgh.

Protestors will be marching to the municipality to air their grievances about crucial matters such as delivery service, and more.

The Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Rev Thulasizwe Buthelezi, is concerned about the ongoing situation in Umdoni regarding lack of proper municipal services as well as allegations of corruption.

Buthelezi is expected to meet with the community at the Umdoni municipal offices at about 10:00 .

Note: The focus of this protest will be in Scottburgh and not Umzinto. It was previously indicated that Umzinto would be affected, but this has since changed to allow locals an opportunity to properly engage with the MEC.
