Calling all orchid lovers
Visitors are always welcome, so go along and see what they are all about.
The Alfred County Orchid Society invites all orchid enthusiasts to its monthly meetings at Stephward Estate in Uvongo.
Join them for an afternoon of all things orchids every third Sunday of the month at 14:00.
Alfred County Orchid Society takes its name from the magisterial district of Port Shepstone. During the old colonial era in the latter part of the 19th century, it was known as Alfred County and was situated between the Umtamvuna River in the south and the Umzumbe River in the north.
The club is the oldest orchid club in South Africa, and Disa caffra is their emblem.
Whether you’re a seasoned orchid grower or just starting out, the meetings are a great opportunity to learn from experienced members, share your knowledge and connect with fellow orchid lovers.
The meeting covers a wide range of topics, from cultivating and caring for different varieties of orchids to tips and tricks for displaying your blooms.
Visitors are always welcome, so go along and find out what they are all about. You might just leave feeling inspired and with a new addition to your orchid collection.
