Sanctuary for monkeys relocates
If you find an orphaned baby monkey call the rehab centre immediately.
Tracy Rowles, who is well-known for her incredible work with monkeys, has moved her rehab centre to Summerveld near Shongweni.
Tracy wants the public to know that the doors to her monkey sanctuary are still open, and, along with Cecelia Botha, they are continuing their work to rescue and rehabilitate monkeys.
They have a small satellite centre in Umkomaas, which is a holding facility where the injured monkeys are housed after their vet treatment.
Tracy travels once a week to collect injured monkeys from Umkomaas.
Once they have healed, she then returns to Umkomaas to release them.
“Baby season is here, and I’m begging the public to please call so an orphaned baby can get to the rehab centre immediately for care. It is illegal to keep indigenous primates as pets; the public needs to do the right thing so they have a future at rehab and being returned to the wild,” said Tracy.
Tracy can be contacted via WhatsApp on 072 8335119 or call 071 3017984. Cecelia can be contacted on 068 5437949.
