Car show to raise funds for school’s US trip
Principal Dion Davey said this trip is planned for term 2 in 2025 in order to open learners to opportunities available to them.
Do you love an adventure on wheels? Then don’t miss out on a fabulous car show, a fundraiser hosted by St Martin De Porres School, at its premises on Saturday, November 16, from 10:00 till late.
The event is part of several fundraising initiatives so that six deaf learners and four teachers can visit Gallaudet University in the USA. The trip is historically important to the school, and in particular, the learners, as this is the only university worldwide which specifically caters for the deaf.
Principal Dion Davey said this trip is planned for term 2 in 2025 in order for learners to experience the opportunities available to them.
“We are embarking on a number of fundraising initiatives. The first is the car show, which has lots of fun events, music, dance for adults and children, food stalls, and much more. Mrs Bold SA 2024 Cynthia Nene will be making an appearance as a motivational speaker. We are appealing to all to come along and enjoy this day with us and to support our fundraising drive,” said Davey.
The car show will comprise a variety of categories such as show and shine, sound off, originality (vintage only), 4×4, tow trucks, superbikes and chopper bikes. A fee of R100 per category will be charged to enter the car show.
General entrance is free, and there will be lots of fun and games for the whole family. The event was emceed by MC Gaye, with music provided by DJ Kish.
